New Mack Model Really Hauls Trash
Company Touts Refuse Applications of Its Recently-Introduced Granite Axle Back Vehicle; Expands Telma Frictionless Brake Offering

LAS VEGAS, NV (May 3, 2005) - Mack Trucks, Inc. is taking the opportunity of the 2005 Waste Expo show in Las Vegas to emphasize that the latest addition to its lineup of heavy-duty vocational trucks - the Granite Axle Back model- is ideally suited for refuse applications.
"Because of the numerous customer benefits it offers, the Mack® Granite® model was already the number one selling Class 8 conventional straight truck in the U.S.* well before we introduced the axle back version earlier this year," said Tom Kelly, Mack vice president of marketing. "So we're confident that expanding the Granite line-up can only strengthen our leadership position in this segment of the market."
"Thanks to the success of our LE and MR models, we're also the clear leader in Class 8 low cabover vehicles*, which are widely used in the refuse industry," Kelly added. "And we're very excited about the positive impact that the Granite Axle Back model is going to have on this area of our business as well. Having the ability to offer a conventional truck that can be optimally configured as either a rear loader or roll-off enhances the overall value proposition we're able to provide our refuse customers."
Mack also announced that it is now offering the Telma Frictionless Braking System carrier-mounted to its S462 axle on LE and MR vehicles.
"The Mack S462 axle, with its lightweight yet strong ductile iron housing, has been very well received by our refuse customers," said Steve Ginter, Mack vocational products marketing manager. "These same customers have also become increasingly aware of the benefits of the Telma system, which can dramatically lower maintenance costs by reducing the number of brake overhauls required for even the most demanding routes. So we believe the Mack S462 - Telma Brake arrangement provides an optimum combination for our refuse customers."
