Mack Customers’ SCR Experience Captured on Video - Validates Choice of SCR for 2010
LEHIGH VALLEY, PA (April 24, 2009) – Customers report Mack Trucks, Inc.’s selective catalytic reduction (SCR) emissions technology delivers improved fuel economy and reliable performance in test fleet operation, while being virtually transparent to the user.
Several Mack customers relate their fleets’ successful, in-depth operational experience with SCR in a video on Mack’s website (http://www.macktrucks.com/default.aspx?pageid=2561, using the “Click here to view the Mack SCR Customer Experience video” on left side of screen), as well as on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8xnerK2uPc).
For instance, Dan Alderfer, fleet superintendent of the H&K Group (Haines & Kibblehouse), a large vocational fleet in the Northeast U.S., says his SCR-equipped MACK® Granite® has “very good” performance while delivering significantly better fuel economy. And the diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) used by the SCR system is a non-issue, since it only needs replenishing once a week.
Mike Burns, vice president of regional truckload carrier Burns Motor Freight, also reports good results with his SCR-equipped MACK® Pinnacle™. The fuel economy is very good, the fleet found it could handle DEF with no more concern than antifreeze or windshield washer fluid, and the truck handled winter extremes of cold in the mountains and northern states without any problems.
These experiences, as well as those of the other Mack SCR test fleet customers, clearly demonstrate why SCR is the technology of choice to successfully meet the strictest emissions standards in the world, while providing improved fuel economy and low operating costs.
