All-New Mack® Granite® Cab Raises the Bar for Vocational Driver Comfort
GREENSBORO, NC (June 09, 2026) – Mack Trucks today highlighted the driver-centric cab and interior design of the all-new Mack® Granite®, the next-generation vocational truck engineered from the ground up around the people behind the wheel.
Built around how vocational work is actually accomplished, the new Granite cab reflects years of customer input, driver clinics and engineering refinement. From a wider cab profile to a premium wide-based seat, intuitive controls and proven comfort technologies, every detail was designed to keep drivers comfortable, focused and productive through the most demanding workdays.
“Drivers are the heart of every vocational operation, and they are getting harder to find and harder to keep,” said Jonathan Randall, president, Mack Trucks North America. “With the all-new Granite, we set out to build a cab that drivers want to come back to every day. From the additional shoulder room and premium seating options to class-leading steering and ride technologies, every element of this truck reflects our commitment to the men and women behind the wheel.”
A Roomier, Driver-First Cab, Designed with Driver Input
The all-new Granite’s interior was developed with input from more than 30 professional drivers through an unbiased clinic at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, where drivers without knowledge of the Mack brand rated prototypes and provided feedback on ergonomics, control placement and visibility.
Several signature interior features came directly out of that clinic. A reinforced accessory rail runs across the top of the instrument panel, doing double duty as a sturdy mounting surface for ELDs (Electronic Logging Devices) and as a grab bar that helps drivers pull themselves up and out of the seat — a thoughtful detail for those who spend eight to 10 hours a day in the seat or contend with knee or hip issues. A metal ELD plate built into the dash provides additional reinforced mounting for secondary screens or monitors.
Intuitive HMI and the Mack CoPilot™ Display
From the instrument panel to the door panels, the Granite’s human-machine interface (HMI) switches were designed to optimize visibility and ergonomics, creating a driver-centric command position. A new 12-inch digital instrument cluster – the Mack CoPilot™ Display – is paired with an optional nine-inch secondary infotainment display on the dash panel, combining the precision of digital displays with the intuitive, analog feel of traditional gauges and controls.
A Mack-exclusive flat-bottom steering wheel creates more knee room while keeping critical controls within easy reach. A standard driver-side airbag is integrated into the wheel, while smart steering wheel buttons provide access to infotainment, cruise control, CoPilot Display navigation, headlight and marker light interrupter switches and phone controls. These features provide a design that allows drivers to manage key truck functions without taking their hands off the wheel. Stalk-located Mack mDRIVE™ Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) controls allow smooth, intuitive gear changes while keeping the driver's hands on the wheel. Standard top-of-dash and lower dual USB-C and 12-volt outlets and an available wireless inductive charger keep multiple devices powered without cluttering the cab.
Door Panel and Seating Engineered for All-Day Comfort
Inside the doors, the panel layout was designed to optimize downward visibility, with door-mounted control panel switches and ergonomic handles built from metal for long-lasting durability.
An all-new seat frame was engineered to wrap drivers in support at the legs, back and lumbar. An available premium air-shock seat adds best-in-class heating, cooling and massage functions, helping reduce driver fatigue on long shifts and demanding routes.
“Vocational drivers are running their trucks through some of the toughest conditions on the road, and the cab is where they spend their day,” said Tim Wrinkle, vice president, product owner, vocational and medium duty at Mack Trucks. “With the all-new Granite, we focused on the details that matter most to drivers – the room to move, the controls in the right place, the seat that supports them through a long shift – and surrounded that environment with the steering, suspension and ride technologies that keep them comfortable and productive from the first job to the last.”
Mack Command Steer Now in Axle-Forward and Axle-Back
Available Mack Command Steer technology delivers up to an 85 percent reduction in steering effort, giving drivers precise control in all conditions with customizable settings that boost productivity and comfort behind the wheel. With the all-new Granite, Mack Command Steer is now available in both axle-forward and axle-back configurations, a first for the model, bringing the technology to a broader range of vocational applications.
The Smoothest Ride in Any Granite to Date
The all-new MaxRide™ Air rear suspension is an advanced, non-torque-reactive vocational air suspension. Electronically controlled with eight tuned airbags, MaxRide Air delivers the most stable and best ride ever on a Mack truck, helping reduce driver fatigue and minimizing wear on driver and equipment alike.
Comfort Built to Last
Interior durability has been engineered to match the Granite’s legendary toughness on the outside. Thick aluminum door handles, heavy-duty fabrics and stitching, and reinforced door map pockets designed for use during entering and exiting the truck all stand up to daily jobsite use. Long-lasting LED interior and exterior lighting is brighter than incandescent bulbs and draws less power.
Standard on the all-new Granite, the Mack ImpactShield™ windshield featuring Corning® Fusion5® Glass brings automotive-grade glass technology to one of the most demanding vocational trucks on the market, delivering improved impact and scratch resistance and reduced ownership costs during the life of the vehicle.
Availability
The all-new Mack Granite will be available for order in the latter half of 2026, with production beginning in January 2027 at Mack’s Lehigh Valley Operations facility in Macungie, Pennsylvania.
