Mack’s Negotiations Objectives

Mack Trucks’ purpose is to move and build a better world. We design and build products that meet the needs of demanding customers, who use them to bring positive change and development to communities around the world. The products we build are for people, by people. And we are committed to providing our people who build and support these important products with a competitive level of compensation and benefits, and a great work environment.

At the same time, we operate in a complex, competitive industry. Now more than ever, our business environment is characterized by new technologies, new market dynamics, and new competitors. These changes present challenges, but also significant opportunities.

At a high level, we will be discussing with the UAW ways that we can work together in this environment to ensure that Mack Trucks is a sustainably high-performing organization through market ups and downs. This will give us the ability to continue investing in our facilities and people, to grow our business, and to be a more stable, secure employer over the long term.

One part of this will be discussing potential ways to increase the workforce stability and the flexibility of our operations. We look forward to exchanging ideas about how we can handle the movement of people in a better way, and ensure we get the right people into the right jobs as efficiently as possible. We believe this would make it easier to deliver consistent quality and meet customer delivery expectations, while making our facilities even better places to work.

Particular proposals will only be shared at the bargaining table. But in general, we look forward to working with the UAW to reach an agreement that is fair; provides our people with a competitive package of compensation and benefits; supports the safety of our employees; supports training in the skills needed for success in a changing world; and helps us provide consistent and sustainable employment for the Mack employees of today and tomorrow.
