Mack Powertrain Development and Production

The plant in Hagerstown, Maryland, develops and manufactures all the brand’s heavy-duty diesel engines, transmissions, and drivelines.

Every Mack powertrain built in Hagerstown meets and exceeds all federal and state legislation, including greenhouse gas certifications. Since 2001, Mack has invested more than $385 million to upgrade the 1.5 million square-foot plant, including the addition of a new engine development laboratory.

Environmental care is a priority for the Hagerstown operation, and electricity use is down almost 9 million kilowatt hours since 2012 – enough savings to power more than 830 homes for a full year.
